Jim,

nice 'then and now' montage. I had the pleasure of visiting the area circa 2002 and it is a wonderful region to visit with many poignant memorials and places.

It is always worth remembering that the Somme offensive which scarred the British (and Canadian) national psyche for generations morphed into a plan to ease pressure on the hard fighting French divisions in the Verdun area.

Well worth a visit to the region for anyone with even a passing interest in the Great War.
