I rented a car while in Berlin and set out to visit Carinhall. Although not too far outside Berlin, it is a cast-iron bitch to find. At any rate, here's a brief tour. The only remaining structures on the site are these two guardhouses that flank the entrance to the estate. Both have crestrs with crossed Marshal's batons above their doors:

One of the two houses outside the estate right next to the guard houses was occupied. The old woman who lived there said thaat the road had been paved with a lot of rubble from the remains of the lodge and other buidlings, so I did an impromptu archeological expedition. Lots of pieces of marble, a few shards of tea cups with floral designs and lots of fired and glazed clay bits. The best finds were a few pieces of tile dated 1928 and 1936.Attached FilesLast edited by DonC; 08-02-2009, 08:26 PM.
