Ahhhhh Stroodle. I see you hit Jefferson Barracks quite a few times!! Many of those shots look very familiar. I've been there a few times, although haven't been in the battle. My first was with as a Fallschirmjager probably 5 years ago, then last year was a display with the 505th.
Now I've given up the 505th to focus exclusively on FJ. I won't be there this year, but maybe down the road a bit I will make it down there and join in. I definitely remember that ride in the Opal well. There was one pothole that if you weren't holding onto the side, she'd throw you over the side on....I could see the captions now "Fake German Squished for Real"
I also remember all the grief we gave the Italian Cavalry soldier with the huge feather plume, about how he would blend in great with the cathouses and clubs, and asked if he'd flip coins to determine which side he was on, and if that was a real chicken on his head....
lol. Good times. My old unit will be down there this time, but I've already been asked to be at an event in Iowa, and that one is sounding VERY interesting.... so there's no way I can miss out on that one. Perhaps in the future.
