              Manufacturer Question

              Hi there, NickG!
Who manufactured your repro Dutch SS tunics?

              Cheers,
              RT

                Good evening gentlemen,

I have been following the Panzer-Aufklärungs Grossdeutschland reenactment group and have always been very impressed by their extremely high portraying standards. Their officer impressions inspired me to have the following tunic made for me.

Here you have my repro early (cavalry) style lightweight Aufklärungs Oberleutnant tunic. It's made out of a post war plash palatka (russian parka). This was a common practice in the Russian campaign as the officers had their uniforms tailor made with everything they could get their hand on basically. Russian pash's were lightweight and almost waterproof, which was great asset during the summer where you could have quite long rain periods and hot temperatures.

It was hand made to my measures by my local tailor. She hasn't any experience in WWII gear, so I think the result is quite good already.

The only thing is, I have a doubt on the shape and size of the collar, it seems like it's a little bit too big... What do you think?

                Let me know your impressions!

Wow, considering that was her first attempt at a WW2 German uniform, it looks very nice! How much did she charge you?

                        Hi Joel!

Thank you for your kind message! Any stuff you would have done differently?

I think she asked me between €150 and €200, but I had to provide the material myself.

                        Cheers,

Well like you mentioned the collar is a bit larger than usual, although the size of collars does vary in original tunics as they are private purchase items. Also I don't think the front seams are supposed to go all the way right next to the slanted pockets.

Other than that it's a very snappy tunic.

Very nice. Did you get your ribbon bar from the Australian medal company? Looks very similar to mine which came from there...Austrian pattern I believe
