    I was in Bastogne last May. It was nice but I found it very commercial. On every corner it seems like there is a bistro named "Nutz". I liked the museam there. I was also in La Glieze and Trois Ponts. Trois Ponts was much nicer and a stones throw from La Glieze and Coo. The 1944 museam in La Glieze is a must see. I spent hours in there!

    Also check out Houffalize (sp) as well as Granmenil (sp). There are two Panthers there.

      Will do. Thanks Sepp. I'm guessing it'll be way more commercialized with the 60th anniversary and the reinactment. I've heard there's going to be a militaria show too. Going to be pretty hectic. Thanks though.

          Alright guys, here's the deal. Our boy Kale is gonna get us set up, but what we need is a for sure head count if we wanna get group rates and stuff. Please pm me asap and let us know if you're coming and want to group up, for hotels atleast.

                I'd love to go back but the next time I promised I'd take my wife. Going to Bastogne armed only with English is perfectly fine. Lots of people speak english in Bastogne. The surrounding areas, not so much. The owner of the pension I stayed at in Trois Ponts spoke perfect english and was very helpful. He was the only one I ran into that could hold a conversation with me.
                I found it interesting while eating to listen to conversations going on around me. Flemish or Walloon seem to be pieces of both German and French. I'd swear I was listening to German only to be baffled by what sounded to be French! It seems no one there can or wants to speak German but if you speak French then you are good to go!!

                Even in Luttich (Liege) I had difficulty with getting directions. Belgium is a beautiful country! Take plenty of fotos and tell us all about it when you get back!

                        bastogne trip next week

                        Allright guys, here's the deal. I saw a couple of names coming by and I need to do a head count for the hotel. The hotel will be 35 Euro per night incl. breakfast. As for now I have six spots available in the hotel.

                        Please sent me a PM in the next 24 hours so I can confirm to the hotel. The hotel needs your names. Also I'd like to know on what day you'll be arriving. I have an option from friday on saturday and saturday on sunday.

                        I'll be there myself on saturday morning. If like 4 people will be there on friday then I'can tell him that so we doesn't have to keep the room empty that night.

                              I'm going for sure...just don't know the exact dates yet...still putting my itinerary together but I'm hearing that the 16th-17th are the Battle anniversary commemoration dates... (reenactment, gun show etc...)
                              I arrive on the 15th (Amsterdam) so I could still make it... If not it will be the following week... will see. I'll bring my cellular phone which works in Europe, so if any WAFers want to hook up dial (usa number) 909-286-3386. Nick
