    Wisch

Interestingly there were two daggers on different internet auctionsites at the same time, supposendly from Wisch....

Wisch's son sold his father's military heritage to a trader in Hamburg. The same trader then carried the stuff over to an auction house in the north of Hamburg. Besides the photos and documents, the group then included a mint cased KC, mint cased oakleaves, visor caps, etc. pp.

About 2 years ago, when I was in contact with the son, he wrote me that his fathers group never included any daggers, visors or swords[/B]. Material which appeared in the auction catalogue and even outside on the open market. There are collectors contacting me even today about Wisch's officer's sword, which was sold to them which never existed and I have seen a certificate of authenticity from the same trader certifying that the oakleaves and swords sold to a collector came from the Wisch estate, when Wisch never received any swords award during the war.

Funny even, that when I was at the trader's home many years ago, he told me that Wisch's swords award, which came from the estate was a post-war piece! Yet, to one collector he issued a certificate for a real set supposedly coming from the Wisch estate....

In the end: All fraud and money-making. End of story.

It won't be the last group to be sold off like that. Believe me, there's more to come, more I will not say at this time.

I remember there was a letter from Winkler to a Collector Dr... that he says that the swords comes from Wisch. Fake story to make money?

        Swords

Yes Ralf, you are right: Dr. Fiedler was the poor chap who bought the swords based on a certificate of authenticity. (below)

Again, interesting that the seller around 1999 told me that the only swords which were in the group were postwar, why did he then certify that these (pictured below) came from Wisch's estate?

The original auction catalogue from February 1997 however did only list the post-war swords as well.
No original swords whatsover. Where did the original swords come from in 1999?

And last, but not least, Raimer Wisch confirmed to me in written, that the only original wartime decoration which was in the group was the German Cross in Gold.

Hopefully as he nears completing his Wisch study Markus will consider my thought on the 2nd project proposed for him to write.

Few grasp the complexity of doing an actual historical book involving research. That is far beyond a simple "photo book" type as seems popular on militaria topics and are simply a catalog of supplied collector items with minimal captions and no actual research.

I now have his Wisch manuscript and extensive image captions. With Markus' period document research and veteran input, previously unpublished images, and details of other ""LAH" personalities relevant to Wish's career, it is what I hoped it would be. No doubt the "One and done" on that Swords holder and "Leibstandarte" commander.

I did individual books on Weidinger, Kumm, and Krag. Hopefully when published the Wisch study will motivate the others to do similar studies.

To bad the period documentation as individuals for Hausser and Steiner is so small. Both would be excellent topics, though material on others is available.

                  Commanders of the Leibstandarte

Finished some work on the book tonight and thought I would post a part-photo of my "Commanders Display."

Upper left: Oberstgruppenführer Dietrich (Diamonds holder - 6.SS-Panzer Armee).

Upper right: Brigadeführer Mohnke (KC and last defender of the Reichskanzlei in Berlin).

Lower shelf: Brigadeführer Wisch ( Oakleaves with Swords & Successor of Sepp Dietrich as Kommander 1.SS-Panzer-Division "Leibstandarte").

I am somewhat missing Otto Kumm still.....

Teddi Wisch in Polen - Polnischefahne

                            Hello colleagues,

days ago, trying to find any info on 1/LSSAH activity during polish campaign I've found interesting infos about some polish standard of Pilsudski Legionist Assoc., which - according to polish newspaper- was captured by Teddi Wisch during Battle on Bzura River.

I have some LSSAH stuff, bought years ago (early90s) in Poland (Seradz) precisely form 1939, which - methink- is connected to Teddi Wisch. Could you help me and give some source info (books, magazines, doc) on 1/LSSAH activity during polish campaign. Did anyone heard anything on that polish standars history? Did Teddy came with his unit to Seradz, Lodz or Pabianitze, Warsaw?

                            Much thanks for kind help

Hi Polenfeldzug –  A well kept little “secret” or unknown fact: The flag used to be property of the 1./LSSAH veteran’s association and was kept by “Teddy” Wisch. You will find photos of it in the book “12 years 1.Kompanie.” (Very recommendable for what you are looking for/ Emphasis on 1./LAH). The flag was to be burned by the last surviving member of the 1./LSSAH Kameradschaft. A dealer have been looking for it for many years. Unsuccessfully. For a reason…. Would you be willing to share  a copy of the newspaper article and your items with us? Cheers,Markus
