This is the first of the Honour Goblets I have to members of KG55. It was awarded to Unteroffizier Erich Knoll a bordmechaniker (flight engineer) with 5th staffel KG55. The group consists of his honour goblet, award documents, soldbuch, flugbuch, a presentation photograph of Hermann Goring dedicated to Erich Knoll for his completion of 100 combat flights and signed by his stkpt. Willie Antrup, KC winner 13/11/42 and 28 of his combat photos of 5th staffel.
Erich Knoll flew 128 combat flights between 21/12/1940 and 5/6/1942 when he was injured when his He111 crashed on its return flight on his 128 mission. His first two combat flights were when he was still at flight school and were raids to London.
Erich Knoll was awarded the EKII, EKI, the Frontflugspange in bronze, silver and gold. He was awarded the honour goblet on the 10th July 1942 and according to his soldbuch he was awarded the Krim, Cholm and the Narvik shieldsLast edited by jim murray; 06-06-2011, 05:40 PM.
