Thats an incredible visor, a real beaut!. Any chance I can get a look at your Luft parade tunic you showed few posts back? Or just point me to the thread if it was already posted.

    Thanks

      Parade

      Steve,

.... will have to look. Don't remember exactly which one you are referring to but I suspect it was the one with the mannequin which had the "Privat" grade EREL visor. Back later ...

          Parade

          Steve,

Here is the shot you want, I think. I had not mounted the Spanish pilot's badge when I took this shot. Strictly speaking, this is not "parade" dress as the officer would have a helmet on instead. Also, note the EK2 ribbon. This would not have been present, of course, pre-1 September 1939, so the display is not exactly correct.

Mike, the close-ups are superb with your Casio EX-Z3; may I ask, how clear does it shoot something like a complete tunic or a room? I am shopping for a new digital and take primarily just tunic shots, lower hem to top of collar. Many thanx. Tony http://www.kaisersbunker.com/

              Uniforms

              Tony,

Well, you ask a good question ... I will try it tomorrow and post photos here for you to look at.

I think the real key is lighting. Flash on these digitals doesn't seem to work that well. I think a tunic taken in either natural light or with professional photography lights would be the way to go.

Let me give it a couple of tries and you can see for yourself.

                Casio Photos

                Tony,

As promised, here are some photos of my General uniform (Ludwig Keiper) taken with the new Casio ... the first two photos are in natural light. I should say, they were taken in my collection room with the shades opened. I have not yet tried taking any like this outside.

The second set of two shots is taken with flash. A dramatic difference but it is all in how you like it.

                        Outside shots ...

Well, I decided to take the uniform outside and see what the results were. Obviously, again, much different. The key really is lighting and I have to believe to achieve the best result with digital, as with normal cameras, it would be best to have studio-quality lighting and the proper background.

Closeup detail is quite good. However, I rejected closeups of the tabs and boards, as they washed out very white in the sunlight and it was not an accurate depiction of the actual insignia.

                                Hi Mike,

Well, I very much appreciate all your effort. I apologize that this turned into a photography discussion, but I am sure the others have enjoyed seeing that amazing tunic that you chose to "model". This link is as good as I can get with my ancient Kodak DC 215.

                                http://www.kaisersbunker.com/dunkelb...nics/dbt17.htm

Not bad, but I am looking for crisp, completely focussed pictures of tunics that I cannot get with my present camera. I take all of my photos outside on a bright, yet overcast day so I require no flash and get no shadows. Direct sunlight as you experimented with, blows the colors away and ruins the photo with shadowing. Thanks again for all the effort, Tony http://www.kaisersbunker.com/
