Thanks Mark & Barry, it means alot coming from a couple of my old friends.

Here is another pic of the rare early Kav strap from the 3rd Recon Bn DAK.

& a set of Schutzen NCO strap's also picked up this year. Gotta love the corduroy.
You can still see sand in the stitch lines of the tresse. If you look too long you start to rub your eyes

Merry Christmas to all fellow DAK collectors
    Tim

        Ok

Tim, love the Kav strap from the 3rd Recon Bn DAK, as you said, a rare strap

Jacquesf, the paint on your Para certainly looks period. Can you post pics of the liner?

        Merry Christmas

No question that it is period, only if the mustard yellow is DAK for Ramcke brigade?

I'm no expert on Ramcke brigade helmets, the mustard yellow is commonly seen on early DAK helmets along with light orange colour

There is an attributed Ramcke brigade para helmet currently for sale and its more the light orange in colour. I'd be keen to know the answer to this as well, quite possible you may expect to see any combination of paints used

                Hi Jacquesf & MarkS

Great Green Devils helmet. Would also like to know the camo timeline on the Ramcke Brig ? Certainly could be from Egypt but possibly Tunisia as well ?

Makes you wonder if this helmet took part in the "wild ride" ?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years

On the question of North African theatre para helmets, this thread has a great deal of useful information and acknowledges the excellent research of John Hodgin into this...noting different shades of yellow/tan, and textures...

                  http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=show+dak+fj

....and worth noting that Ramcke Brigade helmets that later saw use in Tunisia were sometimes overpainted in green or had green dabs over the tan to better blend in with the different terrain there.
