Thanks for all the comments Great new posts as well. Love the cut insignia Paul.

Mark S-here are 2 more pictures of the cap. The coat is at my sisters place in Seattle and I'll take some more pics once I pick it up. Very nice display

Mark G-I really like the cut insignia. I have some cut tunic eagles as well and need to get pictures of them when I am back home. I jumped at the chance to be the new caretaker of the boards. Been looking for a set for ages. Could never figure out why they are so hard to track down until I realized you owned them all!

      Cap

Barry, love the wash out appearance,

Looking at the fading to the liner, cockade and eagle (placements) it appears to been chemically bleached.

A classic DAK cap that will look great in any display, hopefully it won't be to long before you get the tunic, was it a set?

      Thanks for the extra photos

        Hi Mark

I also think it was bleached. Wish it came with a matching tunic but it was only the cap unfortunately.

          Hey Guys,

Today I found this nice propaganda item on the military fair in Ciney.
It's from Egypt, representing an English banknote.
Translation on the Arabic text is always welcome.

          Regards,
          Yannick

              Thanks Tony

I also found the translation in one of my DAK books, the book from Robert Kurtz about personal groupings, award documents, etc.
A typical but special piece of propaganda.

              "The Bank note

If you consider this paper money you will remember the time when you could have given in its place ten small pieces of attractive shining gold.

That was because the note was guaranteed by the greatest Empire, which possessed power, riches and splendor. But her greatness has disappeared and her riches effaced like decayed leaves.

What is value of this note today ? You must be completely familiar with that.

Every day that has passed in this war that England chose, the power of the British Empire has been torn to pieces and each battle lost by England is the reason for the fate of British money.

Today we have nearly come to the time when the beggar at the side of the road will refuse an English guinea (or Pound Sterling) if you give him one. God wills the decay of Britain and so wil it be."

              Regards,
              Yannick

That certainly is a very nice set of shoulderstraps. This early set have been worn and are very scarce and desirable. It would be interesting to find a photo of a set of numbered or cyphered em's boards in wear in North Africa. I'm sure that we may eventually find a photo if we look close enough.

                      Regards,

                      Mark

What a beautiful set of numbered worn/faded straps .. I myself have never been lucky enough to see any in wear but as Mark G has suggested we all need to start looking a whole lot closer at period snaps, I am sure there must be images out there somewhere.. Thanks for sharing this set ...

Paul, I've got to start scanning many of my photos so will be taking a good look as I do so. It may take a while though, I have a few thousand. These shoulderstraps from helmut01 are just sensational. I would love to add something like that to the collection but I have to really start downsizing first; my collection has just grown far too large.

It would be interesting to know how that device came to be on that strap. Not only should that device only appear in white Waffenfarbe but on a tropical strap?
