Well thank all you guy's for the motivational comments and sharing your nice items as well.
- Greg B, that engraved mess kit is a gem. I had a few kits before. They never much appealed to me so they went down the road. This one is a keeper though for sure and I would be charmed having a unique personalized work of art like that in my collection.
-Jacquesf, Will eventually get my collection thread spun up shortly and build it up as I can rotate my items out of storage.
While at it, one of my latest DAK additions, another Medal with packet accompanied with ephemera to the recipient.
Can see the difference in my other award (reverse)
- Type 3 packet on left
- Type 2 packet on right.
Will be incorporating the new medal to my assembly below. ( more than several items of this group have been published in Antonio Scapini's book : "Italo-German Medal for the Afrikan Campaign.")
Thanks for looking and sharing all your great items, input, and nice comments once again boys.
Thanks to you all for brightening up a very wet cold Easter weekend down here in the deep south of NZ..
Ray your Afrika medal collection with papers is superb !.. Barry your faded cap and the insignia cut in one piece from a cap is stunning.. I have included a pic of my set, unfortunately not joined but both from the same cap ..
Ray,
You certainly have diverse and interesting collection, a great presentation of Afrika medals and documents, look forward to seeing the rest of your collection
Barry,
some very nice militaria on display there!. My two favourites are Tropical grey coat and the sun bleached M40 cap, love to see more detail photos of these two when you get time
Paolo- enjoyed seeing the Kalender, a rarely encountered item
Paul, impressive cut off insignia, was it a local pick up?
Its a sunny Autumn day over here, perfect weather for long weekend holiday (usually it's raining)
Thanks for the Tropical Y-straps , now displayed on the Pz Gren
Mark S
Thanks for sharing your Pz man with us, love that 1st pattern tunic and the MP38/40 mag pouch set up .. I am pleased the Y straps have gone to such a good home..
Thanks for the compliment on the field cap insignia, they came from the US and I was very pleased to secure them ..
Have a good Easter break over there in the sun
Paul
Barry,
I just love the cut off insignia from the panzer field cap, it looks familiar.
As for the PzGren straps, one of the few sets that I have actually parted with over the years. It got to a point where I had far too many so passed a couple of sets on. I'm at that point again as I keep finding sets.
