    Chris,

Although not my area of interest, those KM caps are certainly very nice examples. As for the shields, they are just brilliant. I remember you showing me one of them at the Christchurch show in 2009. An absolute pleasure to see.

    Take care

    Mark

      Hey Chris,
You've got very nice KM caps there !
      Love them
Those shields are very special ! It's the first time I see these, very nice !

Here's a picture I got this weekend, a LW soldier with LW pith helmet and LW long sleeve shirt.

      Regards,
      Yannick

Stunning Shields Chris, if only they could talk. I'm in the same cap as Mark in regards to Kriegmarine caps...in that they dont really float my boat (excuse the pun) however that said I can certainly appreciate them and the Kriegsmarines significant contribution to Afrika on and off the water and running the gauntlet in there uphill battle to supply the Korps. I really like the used salty caps you display that have clearly been issued worn and been in amongst it.

Nice photo Yannick , not easy to find photo's with Luftwaffe piths in ware

        Thanks for showing!

Very nice hats Chris! And the shields to boot! I like tropical items from all services - including KM. I have a KM tunic - still working on finding a hat. I am surprised that KM stuff in general is not as sought after than the other services. Oh well, I guess that leaves more for those that do like it.

amazing shields and caps! my grandfather was in africa until he has been taken prisoner in Sfax, after four years he came back to home, the only thing he brought back was a pair of british shorts (and some stories to tell)

Thank you to all who have posted for the kind comments about the Afrika boat shields and the KM tropical caps.

KM tropical items are still very affordable and perhaps under-estimated by some collectors for a range of reasons. These are an entry level tropical billed cap for many collectors today, especially at the current prices that some are selling for. On the other hand, KM tropical shoulder boards are almost impossible to find.

The KM tropical billed caps turn up in New Zealand as often as the WH tropical billed caps. This is one of the reasons why I have a few of them. Either I got them directly from the NZ veterans myself or a local collecting friends did.

Of course a soutached WH tropical billed M40 or LW billed trop M41 would be more desirable in today's collectors market. However, when it comes to real history that was there. These are real deal tropical caps and uniforms that saw it at the time in more combat zones than many realise.

              Again many thanks,

              Chris

p.s. note how the unhappy German wearing the KM tropical tunic in the larger photo is soaking wet. Sort of appropriate for the KM in its own funny way. Lets hope that the EK1 had a brass or nickel center

                Another p.s. to post number

notice how the KM sailor in the smaller photo is wearing a "KM tropical web belt" with his dark blue pea jacket. The other two KM personel are wearing noth a KM tropical web and a KM leather belt.

KM tropical web belts buckles are the hardest of the tropical belt buckles to find. Any photos of them being worn is a good find in its own right

                Chris

Note also the short model KM tropical boot being worn in this photo. Another rare one.
