    I feared as much. Thanks.

Sorry Alphared, I'm in complete agreement with OSS & Tim - not the same in detail as the Virtual Grenadier example.

What I really desire is a Sonderverbond 288/287 patch. I located one in Italy and offered to trade the fellow a 17th SS Pz Gren Div cuff title for it. He considered the offer for a week then said no. He offered me a number of nice tropical things for the cuff title but I'm holding out.

Yep - Got to appreciate the 288 patch (Matt will agree with me on that score!)... and a worn one is even better.

I've got one that is sewn to a piece of olive brown wool, I was told it had been cut from a great coat. However I'm told because of the shape of the swastika it is a reproduction.

              I'll just have to wait.

              I do have this:

              <a href="http://s131.photobucket.com/albums/p313/alphared6/?action=view&amp;current=ADAKbadge-AVATAR.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p313/alphared6/ADAKbadge-AVATAR.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

              And this:

              <a href="http://s131.photobucket.com/albums/p313/alphared6/?action=view&amp;current=000_0235.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p313/alphared6/000_0235.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

                Alpha,
I'd post your cap up for discussion in the cap section - but just personally I have doubts about your cap based on your photo.

                  Alphared6,

the SV patches are very numerous these days which leads me to 1 of 2 conclusions. Either people are moving them for the money or there are some killer new repros that are fooling even the most experienced of SV287/88 collectors. I have a patch or two and a photo album. David Bunch truly is the man of the SV287/88, I just dabble in the shadows. Did miss out on that killer set sold by PVL a year or two ago but its just the way the cookie crumbles. The SV patches are more numerous than in years past but still not common. I hooked Mark up with the one he has, the things I do for friends in this hobby Anyways I would be concerned with your metal cap badge as well, there was never an official cap badge and the ones I have seen that I felt were original were rather crude and yours in that little pic appears to be very well done. If you don't have rock solid provenance on these items one should always assume its bad until proven otherwise.
In addition, I am with Mark on your cap..... I think it needs some better pics posted for sure. IM not saying its bad but the pic that you posted are not helping its cause. If I had to buy on that pic alone I would pass on it without a second thought. JMHO though... Matt

I struggled with the cap. When I got it the eagle had been removed. Took me months to find an Eagle I was happy with.

I know about the SV badges. I got this one from a collector in France who had no provenance. There is one in the Muse de la Armee in Paris that is almost this one's twin. But as you say these were individually made and so there is no standard.

                    Here's my EM's cap:

                    <a href="http://s131.photobucket.com/albums/p313/alphared6/?action=view&amp;current=blank.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p313/alphared6/blank.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

There had been a light green soutasche on it but it had been removed as was perscribed. This cap is a size 60!

Straight away I like your enlisted m40 - I'd like to see a few detailed images of the cockade's sewing but otherwise she's looking good!
Can we see some interior shots if possible? I'm looking for a size 60......
                      Regards,

I don't believe there is anything that could wrench this from my hands.

                          Hmmm....I like a challenge!
It's an extremely small photo of the stamp but I like what I see
                          Lovely Rifle Rgt ex-soutache!

Odd that. It originally showed up quite large on my computer so I reduced in photobucket. Never have gotten the hang of this photo thing.

Don't worry about it - I'm a signwriter and we use computer's day in, day out and I still consider myself technologically spastic...
