Yes, it seems a pity that a complete uniform would be sacrificed to produce a small souvenir, but I think these bits are significant relics in their own right. Here are several more:

Killer collection of tropical cutoffs! Its a shame they did it but I can understand why, lugging that stuff around would have been a pain in the arse. Matt

Very nice cutoffs Ramsey. They certainly are a fantastic little souvenir and much easier to collect by the soldier than whole tunics, caps or helmets.
The shoulderstrap that you've shown is also a good looking example and easier to collect for the souvenir hunter. One reason that I love collecting tropical shoulderstraps is the variations that you see in each set or single.

Hi Everyone. I have not posted for a while to the WAF, so I figured I would post 2 of my DAK documents. First is the AH & Keitel signed order promoting Georg von Bismarck (21 Pz. Div.) from Oberst to Generalmajor (his last rank). The second is a Rommel signed letter written from Afrika and sent home (probably for letters and well wishes he received). I would welcome your comments! Jonathan

Have to agree. These cut insignia show the true side of War. Its brutality. Same thing happened to the tunics and caps as the men....

The Nebel straps are outstanding Thanks to everyone's recent contributions

Here is a link to a site with lots of photos from the DAK positions in Libya, taken between 2004-2008.
