Here's an item believed to be a DAK blanketcoat. Any thoughts?

More than likely original but far too much damage for my liking. After all it had been dyed black at some stage according to the seller. I'd definitely prefer to pay more for an untouched example.
Surely you must have thought it was okay before buying it from ebay or are you trying to get out of buying it/checking before having to pay for it?

                      Howdy,

Boy, you guys have a keen eye. Anyway, its already en route to Chicago. The blanket coat will be professionally cleaned and the holes/damage areas patched with some extra blanketcoat material from a pair of trousers I have. That black stuff is oil/grease and it should clean up nicely.

                      Plenty of extra material though....

I am afraid that so called blanket coat is grade A junque. Especially as it has been dyed !!
It was discussed well before ending time. The uniform section of German Ebay is well frequented.

What a shame you did not ask for advice before committing yourself.

For such a serious a collector, I am surprised that you would destroy a pair of trousers with what would appear to be original period repairs.
