    Any DAK items

Yes, a tough decision but the pants must and will be sacrificed for a greater good.

It is your property, so nobody can advise you what to do with it. A shame because the more this kind of thing is done, the less that we will have to pass on to others. For serious collectors, preservation and history are all important but obviously not to all.
And that is the last I will say on this matter.

I am certain that history, our militaria collecting posterity and indeed the future benefactor will better appreciate a fully restored blanket coat rather than a badly damaged pair of pants.

          Said like a true pagan.
Those breeches may have seen more historical events than the ripped up, civilianized coat - yet you are prepared to destroy what could well be a pair of POW worn pants to do what? Justify your misguided ideas on preservation?
DO NOT pray for me or suggest psychiatric help - save it ALL for yourself - you very obviously need it far more than I do.
I will not respond to any more of your childish replies - life's too short.

Modifying two items 60 years after the war is not a good idea at all in my opinion, and does nothing historical.
Maybe you can reconsider your desicion?

i agree with jl,mark & mark i think this guy should entertain a different hobby imo
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.
