What I especially like about this Bergmütze is the inside unit marking : “14./Geb.J.R.136”.

The maker mark is unreadable : all that I managed to read is the top right word : “...Mützenfabrik”. Maybe someone could help me identifying the cap maker ?

To go on with Gebirgsjäger items, here is a first model tropical tunic for an Unteroffizier of the Gebirgsjägers. The tunic has been slightly worn but remained in excellent condition and shade.

Close-up on the insignia. Note that the shoulder straps are not true ‘tropical’ ones but (to my opinion) rather designed for the Windjacke as these are made of light cross-woven cotton cloth instead of the standard tighter woven tropical cloth.

The Edelweiss arm badge is not of the usually seen BeVo style but is machine embroidered on Feldgrau continental wool cloth backing.

The ‘Afrikakorps’ cufftitle had been removed and kept separately/stored with great care by the soldier. So, the cufftitle is the only insignia that had to be post-war sewn again on the tunic.

                  Hi Mark,

                  SUPER nice tunic !

Could you post a close-up of the shoulderboards ? Judging the picture I doubt these to be for the Windbluse. I have a pair in this picture

                    Danke Bart,

Here’s a closer view of the shoulder strap allowing to see the type of cloth that was used. Note also the variant cord piping.

                    Best,
                    Marc

                      Hi Marc,

Nice boards, but as I thought, not the Windbluse type. This is IMO a tropical variation cloth. Th epiping is not uncommon on GJ boards.

                      MfG,
                      Bart

                          It's Sunday, ...

... so let’s take the Sunday suit out of the wardrobe.

Most ‘combat-uniform-collectors’ will probably disagree but, to me, the M37 Geschmückte Feldbluse (ornamented tunic) represents the smartest of all WWII German uniforms.

The insignia is skillfully hand embroidered and is all period sewn to the tunic.
