A small batch (several dozen)of these were found about 20 plus years ago in europe all with penciled size stamps...Billbert

Penciled? More like ballpoint pen ink. I am skeptical of these.

All of these are generaly considered reproductions. Not just the ball point pen ink size, but the stamp is wrong in very subtle ways, and the material is not quite right. I remember when these first appeared on the market in the mid-90's.

Long, long thread on Berolina caps many moons ago. As stated, biro size plus slightly wrong stamps condemn this style in many collectors eyes. Mark.

                          ball point?

This one got the thumbs up a while back... I don't see any difference....

It didn't get the thumbs up from me. Whoever Jos's friend's friend was four years ago who told him it was fake, IMO he was right. I think perhaps people were a little hasty four years ago with their thumbs. That one also has the ballpoint pen ink size and other problems. I wouldn't own it, either.
