I agree with the repaint - I am going through something similar with my R75. Its about a 40 year old restoration and showing its age and has about 5 different shades of dunkegelb on it. So, since it's down for the winter for gearbox repairs I have disassembled it for a complete repaint.

I am going thru a repaint on my R12 as well currently, all parts sandblasting quality RAL7021 paint. Other work needs also be done so think about spring early summer 2020 all will be finished.

Original conservation

The original finish should be kept and its deterioration
stopped using museum conservation.

In my view it has gone to far to warrant keeping the old look …
If it were a complete item I would say 100% yes.
But it aint by a long mile.
To bring this back to a even near item you are going to be using bits from all over .Is it the original engine ??? if not more to my point.
I fully understand the views of others but the bits you will be seeking and are only able to get hold of may well be of a different colour ie grey or who knows .
This will make your project look a bit like a patchwork quilt.
My view would to be search all parts first and if they do match on the colour scheme than go for the crusty look .What you must remember however HOW original is it .50% sourced dosent make it orginal does it .only original period parts.
I have restored several military vehicles old and new and that is the big question.
If all parts are repainted engine parts all taken back to same alloy look you can call it a fully restored bike, however if you have one loking like josephs dream coat the public can see it is not ..
just covering it from all bases I encounter .At the end of the day there will be a piece of history thumping down the road once more.

I already have a restored ks 750.

I can't imagine sandblast these parts... I found all these parts in different location, but frame, fuel tank and front fender seem to be from the same motorcycle.

Engine is from 1942 like the frame.

30 years ago everyone sanded their parts, today with all copies everyone is looking for the smallest parts in original color...
