Mountain boots at stand – issues?
I’ve read your comments, but I’m still a little confused. My initial impression of these boots was that they were produced for use by the Germany Military as mountain boots, though they were used as ski-boots. The conversion to ski-boots does not look like the normal WWII period work that I’ve seen, but the boot itself looks good.
The points that I like (in favor of Wehrmacht Bergschuhe) are: 1) wool ankle collar, 2) lacing holes (grommets) and hooks, 3) extra leather sewn around front and side welt, and 4) the overall shape.
The points that I do like are: 1) the hardware used for the ski-binding, toe-tap, and hob nails, and 2) the tongue is only one-piece (as opposed to a seam up the middle).
Having the boot pull straps in the back is also a good point, if the boot has lacing hooks. Having the top row of grommets instead of hooks as also a good point.
I have encountered many Bergschuhe without side cleats and sole nails, and only have the ski-binding hardware (or no hardware at all).
So, please let me know what you are seeing or not seeing that points to these boots not being Wehrmacht. And – if they are not, then what are they. Are they simply civilian? Are they from some another country? Are they manufactured in recent times, and made to look similar to WWII version?
Again – I’m not arguing that the hardware is standard Wehrmacht issue. I’m not convinced that the Wehrmacht issued ski boots like these, rather they were purchased or customized by the individual. I also believe that many war-time items were reused after the war by converting them to be more appropriate.
I am not arguing for or against the seller. I am unfamiliar with them.
I welcome your constructive comments.

They are handmade, not factory made boots. And IMO would fit to the pre or WWII period as a private purchase.Comment

They don't look hand made to me...And seller doesn't state they are Wehrmacht either...There is the trick, he only says:
"hi
i will sell this nice pair of mountain boots
price 270€ inclusive shipping"

Unevenly put pegs and some peg endings are wider than the others, that only happens when you hit the peg inside the sole with a hammer. Pre WWII era you could buy ready made uppers in the store and have the footwear made then to the measure plus there were plenty of small makers that had quite lot handmade process still in their way of making. I had 1940 dated (with factory maker stamp and lot numbers) boots for the Red Army where soles was fully handmade (pegged as well).
Just my opinion though.
