Sorry, but this is definitely not original paint, look at for example the screws and the threading on them. You would expect rust on them. There is also paint over rust on the can. I feel sorry for your collections if you think this is original paint
I will post some pictures later of my two essenbehalter in original tan paint, then you can see the difference.

I wanted to strip it down and repaint it, to restore it. When I started to sand it, the original paint (and it's red primer) - in perfect condition- were visible underneath the thick top layer of paint. What also became visible were the markings and the date: djo 43
The top layer of paint was quite a dark and 'grimy' browny/tan colour. Underneath that, the paint was beige with red oxide underneath. This I imagine, is the original paint. (it was not on the threads)
