These pouches were used for the "Ersatzgasmaske", as shown above.... but, i know some earlier then 1944 dated ones, so they must be used for other equipment before. A fellow collector have one with "Steigfelle" for Gebirgsjäger in it.

I doubt the climbing furs were meant to be stored in such a pouch, rather be put in postwar. Are those issued or civilian ones?

They might be meant 1st for tankers or navy artillerie gunners, or any other soldiers who moved inside tiny rooms.
But that theory is not confirmed yet.

However, the bag itself is called "Tragbeutel für Filtereinsatz" (carriyng bag for spare filter)! "Filtereinsatz" (Fe) was the term for the filter...
The mouth piece was introduced in March 1944, so maybe the bag was used earlier, just for a spare filter.
