With this label never seen before too, but could be original IMO (an nice).
I have similar label on a paper for cover canteen on cartoon...hope you understand my terrible english
Is it possible to see also the canteen?
And, of course, as I'm a canteens collector...if you ever decide for the selling of this box please let me know.
Thanks.
Now the question is.....why feldflasche 42 on my cover? What type fo canteen is it??? As I know, exist only the canteen type model 31......
It depends. M31 could be aluminium made canteens. M42 could be steel made canteen ( as Germans start making canteen from steel in 1942 ).
That's why I usualy using designation like m31 for early canteens made of aluminium, m31/42 for canteens made in steel.
The same with messkits ; early aluminium made m31, mid to late steel made M31/42 and late war aluminium made m31/44 ( as they have many features of steel messkit but are made from aluminium ).
The same with other equipment etc. IMO it should be also aditional designation of changes made during the war ( as one described above ).
Look at the helmets ; in shape they are the same, but some changes were made during war and names changed from m35 to m40 ( because of changes in vent holes) , from m40 to m42 ( because of changes in thicknes steel and rim being bent ouside instead inside ) .
