It was removed personally by my fathers uncle after the war (he actually removed 2 and gave us one). Unfortunately he had the KM eagle and number ground off . It is still a very nice piece tho. I am curious on one point, ours was painted black after the war. I dilligently removed the paint to show the brass underneath. Alas, I too was looking for more history on the clock (ie the uboat ID number), but have not been able to find any. If someone does give you any info, please let me know. Again, very nice clock . It is good to see another one.

I think removeing the paint was a mistake, as these were originally painted black.

This is the first I have seen with the original finish intact. Very Nice!!

If you know where in Norway then we could at least narrow it down.

As it happens my father-in-law also has one of these clocks, the face is a little rubbed in places. Looks like someone tried to 'clean' it a little too vigorously. It came from Narvik after the war, so belonged to one of the ships moored there in May '45, which one we'll never know.

                          Clock information.

Nice clocks,i have 2 German navy clocks with " N " marking, both of them comes from Norway, one of them is from a German Uboote.I think its difficult to find any information about witch wessel the clock belonged to,if someone have any information about this ,it have been interesting.

                          Regards from Norway.

I am not sure but I think all of the clocks may have originally been supplied with the black finish. This is one of the questions I was hoping to clarify. Most of the time this was removed post war, perhaps someone must have repainted yours once again.

                            Regards
                            Rob

I just saw something very interesting in a uboat coffee table book. I was checking out internal photos of the boat and noticed that the clock was mounted in the radio operators area. Just above the table top. Now the interesting thing...it was brass in color. No black paint at all. Hmmm....
                            Sincerely Andy B.
