What are the tyypical sizes of original WW2 German Blankets?

                          Hi,

I've been scanning through this thread, but I can't see any sizes mentioned.
What are the tyypical sizes of original WW2 German Blankets please?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I may be able answer a question raised about the purpose of the stripes. I am a serving EMT in the UK, the hospital and the old red ambulance blankets have woven stripes to indicate the short edge of the blanket. This is useful when folding the blanket and in the multitude of other uses for blankets. One example is blanketing a stretcher where you need to know which is the short edge

I couldn't see an introductions thread, so please excuse me if it appears that I have just barged in.

                          Regards
                          Mike

                              Really interesting thread.

I note that the question concerning the 'Star of Savoy' had not been clarified.

The 'Star' is the symbol of the post-unification Italian monarchy (hence the 'Star of Savoy' descriptive - the House of Savoy having become the ruling dynasty). It is only evident on Italian hardware manufactured pre- September 1943.

In my opinion, any Italian Army blanket bearing such a mark would be likely to be wartime issue (and potentialy likely to have been 'acquired' by German military personnel).
