Heavy weight, thick wool . Cant make out the marks on it.
There was a single strand red wool woven into the end of each blanket. This was used as a cut line to cut blankets woven together.

I recently read another persons interpretation of why military blankets have stripes on the long ends and felt it worth passing along. They said the stripes were to help align the blanket roll properly when on your Tornister. I do not agree as you do not need any stripes to align it, the ends of the rolls will align it, either one is shorter or longer if not aligned.
Also, whether my theory is correct or not, I know I have used it 100s of times when trying to make a bed in the dark (and socks so you know which end to put your foot into in the dark). IMO

Issue pillow cover, this one is KM and quite heavy and course weave, not like a modern pillow case.

Your pillow went in here first , then into the cover. This first sack could be filled with anything available.

Hello again, Here is my latest blanket. I am really not sure what to think about it. The blanket itself I am confident is original, but the very unusual chain stitching on it has me baffled. Opinions welcome. Thanks, Michael

Here is another new one, I can not prove it is a German WWII blanket, but bought it as such which of course means nothing ! M
