Yeah it needs to be done though. With so few out there, it will be nice to have a good example of an original cooking field kitchen. Thanks for the comments Jim! I will be in touch with you via email next week when I get back home.

Some new progress pics! With the main pot out we need to seperate the outer and inner pots. This will give us a good look at the underside of the inner cooking pot and see what the repairs look like on it. Here we are splitting the two apart. First time in 69 years!!!

Now that both pots are loose and ready to pull apart we need to take the Glycerine steam valve off. This was a pain in the butt!

With the Steam valve off, I took some pictures of it to show what it looks like inside and underneath.

With the steam valve off we can now seperate the two pots! Bottom picture is looking into the bottom pot after we seperated them. Looks like there is still some glycerine in it! It smelled very bad!

Inner cooking pot and the bottom of the inner cooking pot. This is where the repairs were made already. They do not look to bad but I will be looking at making this pot in stainless steel. I am not sure how much it will cost but I think it maybe the best option.

Close up of the bottom of the inner cooking pot. Again there are some repairs, and I am weighing out the options of making one in stainless or fixing this one correctly and using it. Any opinions?

I am in need of some help fellow forum members. I was lucky enough to acquire the correct axle and leaf springs for my kitchen. The only problem is that I am in the USA and the axle and leaf springs are in Germany. The fellow who has them will not ship them to me, only someone in Germany.

So I was wondering if anyone can help me out here with this small problem. I think the best way to do it is to have the items shipped to someone in Germany, then they ship it to me. Please let me know if you or you know of someone who can help me out.

Wish I was still in Germany to give you a hand, but I'm back in the US now. Your best bet is to try to find someone working with the US military there and see if they could pick the items up for you, then they could mail it to you through the APO (except the axle might exceed weight and size restrictions). It won't be cheap, but it would cost less than using the German post office. Maybe someone on the forum in Germany would give you a hand.
