The fact is... is any of the 5l Trinkwasser containers marked? do we have any photographic evidence they are German WWII? If we find one that is, we can assume that they are good WWII. I got mine on Ebay.

The only markings I could found on mine is a "15" in a circle at the bottom. Not typical german - but not swiss, either...

Tom, your three letters on the handle are exact to mine!!, but sorry to say the the 'H' on the side is not for Heer because I have just found a 'Z' in that same position . Let's keep on looking for the answer...

No other signs or stamps to be found on mine. If there is no new information or external evidence I would say we can't confirm if they are WWII or not. Could it be Austrian?

For me its no doubt that it is german WWII - for the reasons I have already mentioned.

So you mean if I buy japanese stuff in Berlin it can't be japanese because it's to far away from Japan.
I'll ask the guy tomorrow where he got his 50 from.

No I dont - I just use the same way of explanation YOU did before: "bavaria isnt to far from switzerland".

But my main argument still stands, I bought it in GERMANY with GERMAN WWII-items.

Called my guy today and he told me that he got these Canisters in Wooden boxes with 4 Canisters inside with a lot of Kitchen Stuff for Bunkers sold as War Reserve as many Boxes were Stamped Kriegsreserne - Reserve de Guerre. The Swiss stored A lot of Foodstuff as a Reserve in the bunkers and so maybe also Water. Niro is better to store it for a long time as Aluminium what is better for field use because of the Weight. Again, I don't want to say that it wasn't used also by the Germans I only say that this Lot what I saw was sold by the Swiss Army. BTW: some Years ago I bought a box of German Insignia with a nice Yellow Swastika sewn on red Background. The Seller swared that everything was from his Granddad who served in WW2, but this Patch was a nice 45th US Infantry Division WW1 Patch. just to think about.
