Mess Kit Marking Questions

Hello all,

I don't know too much about German field equipment and such. So, I need to ask you experts for some help.

I am currently looking at purchasing a German messkit marked "JSD 39" on the handle loop on the side. Is "JSD 39" a German marking? I see so many messkits that are labeled as Russian, German (WWII and postwar), Japanese, etc and all the darn things look the same.

Can anyone help?

Yep

JSD is definately a german marking

If yoy do a google search on "JSD 39" you will even find a mess kit marked JSD 39 (picture search)
