Thank you for posting pictures - but that unit marking is not original. It is modern ink stamp. In case of leather equipment unit markings were just stamped - and they had quite different shape.

Second important fact: this is not moutain troops canteen.

          Regards

Besides being mountain troops canteen as already pointed out by others - are you saying no ink stamps were used on the leather equipment such as these straps?! I don't get it... Or if you mean not such specific type of ink stamps then perhaps some more experienced equipment collectors could throw in their two cents aswell.

                  Regards

IMO the ink stamp is good too. Anyway I'd like to read Mr. Fullriede's explanations on why it's not a GJ canteen

I have seen such ink unit markings in map cases and other leather equipment and nobody doubted on them

I had in collection an identical GBJ canteen to this, but I have sold her because the cloth was ruined.
Is the first time that I see a regiment reference, but I don't see us nothing strange.
If go to see in the rooms of the sales there is a boy that sells some ammo pouch with the regiment reference for which for me the water bottle is believable!

Sorry, for write i use the translator.....

                          Hello,

                          1) This is just bigger version of water canteen - and not regular GJ canteen....
                          Just see this thread:
                          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...light=canteens

and you will see regular GJ canteen presented by Bergfuhrerkiser.
This is the same story just as with "Africa Corps co****s canteen" - everybody says, the bigger one canteen is always for GJ troops... And you can find this information in several books....

                          2) Unit markings on leather items - just see two items from Estand:
                          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru....php?t=299843\
                          and
                          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=299911

Unit markings on leather field gear are always STAMPED and not inked. But I have seen some Luftwaffe leather pouches with inked unit markings... But again - they were just different then markings on your bottle.

                          3) 3Kp/G.J.R.100 ?
                          It should be rather 3./G.J.R.100

Sorry, but IMHO someone has just used bigger version of water canteen to add GJ unit markings - to sell it for good price. He has used just that type of canteen, cause most of people are thinking they were used ONLY by mountain troops. It is of course possible, that those canteen were used by mountain troops too - just like by another troops - but it is not regular GJ canteen.....

                          2+2=4

Again - sorry for my English.

                          Regards
                          Marcin

Bought it for 15 euros on a fleamarket
the guy did not even know it was a german canteen, so where is the profit here?
As for the markings I still think they are good and the canteen is a one liter used by GJ troops and other units as well..........no doubt

I still ask to other members to post their unit marked canteens, please

I will attach a picture of a map case which was for sale o the E-stand. If the actual owner wants it to be removed just pm me , please

Note the absence of Kp. on the stamp, it also looks like it's stamped into the leather and then gone over in ink.
