Right, but we all know that there were several variations in how unit markings were stamped, and please do not tell me that the Kp. was not used.......I know it is an award, but I do not care, I have also seen the Kp. stamped in ammo pouches as well.
Why would someone stamp the unit in the leather and then go it over with ink? Have a look at the J...it is very faint for being previously stamped.......
Anyway the ink was used in this case, as well as many other times that I have seen.
Marcin, the one Bergfuhrekiser shows is a sanitater converted into GJ canteen by adding a hook in the back.........

That award document has nothing to do with leather equipment unit markings.

But it is a good example to show something else: in that document there is acronym "Kp." - but later there are acronyms "Geb." (but not G.), Jag. (but not J.), Ers. (but not E.).

On the canteen above there is:

      3Kp/G.J.R.100

So that unit marking is just mismatched.

If we want to use "Kp." - then we should use "Geb.Inf.Rgt" - and not "G.J.R."

If we don't want to use "Kp." - then we should use "G.J.R."

3Kp/G.J.R.100 marking is just not consistently.

But the most important thing is, the marking is clearly fresh and modern made.

Spaces between ciffers and letters are too big, there is no dot after 3.

      Regards
      Marcin

That looks like a hospital issued WB doc as it has the guy's depot replacement unit on it, you get all sorts of weird and wonderful abbreviations on those.

Here's the only piece of GJ unit marked equipment i have.

Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

          Hello
What is the date on the canteen ? technicaly it was forbidden to have unit information on any gear after 1940 ( which does not mean it is not real) .
I have , or had ( just sold it) a feldgendarmerie issued canteen , simply stamped GEND 38 .
          Regards

Then could you explain us why Simon's very nice zeltbahn has the acronym Geb. written instead of G.?, if we are also reading the rest as J.R.
Look, the only thing I am saying is if we have to test the german unit markings we could be discussing them a lifetime, as as I told you before, they came in several configurations......
The canteen is a full matching 41 dated one.
Apart from that, if this kind of marking is fake, I would expect it to see in any other gear, and this is not the case.
Also, with a crappy picture (cause crappy photographer I am) you are not able to discern the kind of ink used and I can assure you that in hand inspection the ink marking looks much more convincing than in the picture.
