It looks likeone of the late war model mess tins with no handle, although your attachment for the handle looks slightly different then the ones I have seen in person. Check the link below under the mess kit section for a similar model, a friend of mine has one exactly like the one pictured on the webpage but his is 44 dated.

                  Mulon,

Nice collection, I think you will also need to look for one of the 44/45 varianst without the bottom loop on the handle for the strap to round out your collection, like this . . .

I got 2 of them, one from 1945 and one from 1944.
I don't think the 2 parts belong to each other.
IMO the below part side must look like this:
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

I am happy and sad after these photos, because I still find a lot of material to complete my collection.
                      Thanks to all!

                          Hi to all.
Last week I'm buy this 44 mess kit complete with strap.I'm not sure that is original(mess tin),but the strap, for me,is ok.
                          What do you think?
