Gas sheet bags can get interesting also in regards to stamps, dates and type of snaps. Here are 3 tropical versions.

Nice, It is surprising how few of the capes themselves one finds. I have only one.

Have 3 ( empty) of them, all heer issue, marked/dated : axo 44.
Empty heer bags themselves are not expensive at all. But again, prices goes up if you want one with the contens still in it or if you go for tropical or luft ones...

What I was asking is how often do you see the capes? There seem to be a hundred of the cloth cases for every cape. My understanding, most of the cloth ones were sitting in the factories at war's end unissued which explains the consistant good condition.

I don't think capes were generally available later in the war so these just sat around. Most photos of them in use are early with rubberized cases.

Any thoughts on that?

i have a qeustion i know the tropical gassheet,s have the tropical
colour
the wehrmacht used the green colour
here it comes does the luftwaffe used blue one,s or was only the
bag bleu and not the gassheet himself????

Have only seen trop and green capes. Yes, I agree they are rare and seldom encountered. Doubt they had a Luft blue cape. I agree that most bags are mint, as they no longer issued the cape in the later years...so the bags just sat in depot. I just think they are interesting and relatively cheap today still.

Could be that the bags are mostly empty because of the smell of the capes ...
I have mine stored in a tightly taped plastic bag stowed away in a closet. Every time I open the doors (which is not often) I'm remembered of having these capes.
