IMO it is some sort of East-european fantasy backpack.
It has some things I don't like

      Just like Jos said:
"Hmmm..., looks like they forgot to put dirt on the small straps of the little bags inside...., how could they stay that clean while the whole kit is covered with oil/dirt ?
Also, the heavy dirt starts right next to where these straps are attached..., typical..
      Just a observation.."

      Cheers

I don't think its a fantasy item. It looks very well made too.

It could have had a real purpose...Maybe post-war?

        Cheers

                Dear Gents,

I decided to bring this old thread up from simple reason:- I still dont know what that pouch/bag is

I noted that our knowledge has been increased since 2007 so any new facts welcome! I've purchased same but executed in grey vinyl. It is on the way so no pics till arrive.

I must add that I've seen tan example in Matthieu's museum displayed in cart (picture lent from FJ section for obvious purposes):

                  Still don't know....

I know this bag was shown a while ago in another thread and I know Mattieu has more in his museum..

                  Maybe he can enlighten us....

He has them in the engineer/pioneer section

As someone has said, it looks like a tool pouch: screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, perhaps a hammer...

                      Thank You Gents

Sad that it is still mystery cause it looks pretty cool finished in coloured vinyl.

                      Mathieu give us a tip!

Just wanted to bring this back up to the top.

I find it very interesting and somewhat exciting that there is still WH equipment that we don't know all about.

Is Matthieu's (sp?) museum online? Does anyone have a link?

It's not online but serveral photos have already been posted on WAF.
                            Just do a quick search.

That's the homepage of the Museum.
