What is this pouch in yellow Ersatz? For MG?

Dear all,

Hereby some pictures of a bag that I have never seen before. It is executed in yellowish, 'Ersatz' leather and is clearly of German Wartime production (various details point into that direction). Surely the bag was used to carry specific tools. (Maybe for a specific MG or gun or any other 'Pioniere' task.... It is clearly used and I cannot make out any readable stamps or dates.
The bag can be worn as a back-pack.

I am very interested about its (possible) use...

holly smoke - I dont think its the "ersatz leather" - most collectors takes this description as a paper presstoff.. - I think this bag is made of vinyl - like G43 pouches.

anyway - never seen on like that - I will go thru books to look for possible purpose... either way its rare !

I agree with Mike. It's made of yellow vinyl like G 43 pouches. Unfortunately - purpose of this bag is for me unknown.

That is a nice and interesting piece you have there.
I have seen a picture with a soldier carrying one on it's back ,I can remember where, I have no ideas which units the soldier belongued to.
A wild guess ,It could be either a fire kit for some MG/small cannon or maybe related to signal units ?
Ask the guys in the radio section ,to see what they think of it.

As you know I examined this bag yesterday on a local show and its indeed similar fabric as used to produce the G43 pouches although slightly different, more substantial. If you look closely you will see a RB number on the inside of on of those flaps, in my opinion a tool bag for a MG or mortar but just the same for some sort of vehicle.

Hmmm..., looks like they forgot to put dirt on the small straps of the little bags inside...., how could they stay that clean while the whole kit is covered with oil/dirt ?
Also, the heavy dirt starts right next to where these straps are attached..., typical..

It's rather uncommon bag, maybe civil one "converted" for military use?
