It seems reasonable that the M34 tornister would have been replaced by the M39 model. In fact, the M34 continued to be manufactured. Here is a mid- to late-war M34 tornister marked with an RB number, with mismatched shoulder straps.

The majority of the fabric inside is the same stuff used to make many bread bags and rucksacks from this period. The mess kit pouch is a different material, maybe tropical uniform material (?).Comment

This is an early M34 tornister that is complete and as-issued. It is named, unit marked, and the shoulder straps are matching. I find that this type of Tornister seem to be the most valued by collectors. This example is complete with all early features.Comment

Inside, the pack is stamped 13./J.R.69 II. Infanterie-Regiment 69 was part of the 20. Infanrterie-Division from Hamburg.Comment
