              edoudou68,

I'm no expert on knitted items so I won't comment on the originality of your items. The only thing I can say with confidence is that your items are different from mine.Heres a few side by sides. Wr Jim

What You think about it ?100% Original ? Fake or Post War ?
Very hard to say for me...
                    Thanks a lot for helps

Hi (and Merry Christmas), Im a reenactor since a couple of years and I have bought both gloves and socks (diffrent types), all repro made. I can almost asure you that the gloves and socks you ask about are both repro. I would be very suspicious when it comes these things in mint condition.

Compare your gloves with these repro from 1944 Militaria for an example.

The 1st pair might be good, but I would prefer to have the 2nd pair (post # 19) in my collection. The "white" fingers are typical.

The "wehrmacht-socks" (post # 10) have a chance to be socks, but for sure not Wehrmacht.

                        Gran Sasso,

I believe the second pair is a typical late war set.
I'm thinking of starting a separate thread on socks/gloves to sort out fact, fiction, collector myth etc. I need to sort through all my references to see what I can come up with. Maybe with everyones help we can come up with some "hard" information that will benefit the collector community.

Heres an interesting pair of socks I got from Militaria Versand Emig about 6-7 years ago. They use a red size line as well as white. The German collectors in the Mannheim area accepted them as real. I don't really know for sure. Its hard enough to determine if socks with white rings are original. Figured a red ring discussion might be too much. Also heard that green size rings were sometimes used.

                        WR Jim

                          educating thread,

Educating thread, I have a question regarding the white stripes, I was told they indicate the size of the socks/gloves, but how about the colour?, I know of these white stripes but have also seen them in red, is that possible and if so what does the red colour mean in opposite of the white ones?, thanks in advance.

I have heard that the stripes for socks come in white, red, green and even yellow. if you look thru past threads there is some good info on them. I am looking for a pair of socks myself but want to hold out for a non white striped pair. who knows when those will come my way though. Glenn

Jim, I would love to see a thread of all facts started up on these. maybe everyone could shoot close ups of thier socks, gloves and even toques so We can try to see any similarities/differences. Glenn

Jim, please start a sock thread and a seperate glove reference thread. Getting as much information as possible in one place would be great. Here is what I have- a pair of green size ring socks from Bill Shea, a pair of gloves I am very confident about, and a pair of trigger finger mittens also with size rings inside. There must have been tens of millions of Wehrmacht socks made between 1935-45, I would expect a lot of variations. Regarding the trigger finger mittens shown below, were these used by the Wehrmacht? Anyone know for sure?
