    Geheime StaatsPolizei metal bracelet

I have not seem any of these items in quite some time. This item was uncovered in my fathers footlocker about 1-month ago. I recently acquired/inherited my fathers vast collection of German and Russian memobilia and I am having a blast researching and identifying all items.

Here is a metal "Geheime StaatsPolizei" metal bracelet with ring and chain; there is an idented stamp of "202" under the wording; overall condition is VG/Mint.

Would like your opinions to this pieces and if anyone can provide information on the stamp "202".

    Regards - KC

Hello. The 202 would be the gestapo agent's ID #. The number would be stamped onto an uniform disc. Unfortunately though, that ID disc is not real. Sorry.

              Wizard,

Thaks for the reply. Dis-heartning to hear it is not the real McCoy . Can you provide me info, references as to what the authentic would look like?
              Thanks - KC1

Hi KC, sadly it is a fake as already pointed out, sorry.

However, this website, which is owned by Don Bible (who is a lifetime member here) will show you several original examples.

                Cheers, Ade.

                  Adrien / Wizard,

Thank you for your insight and thanks for the link to Don Bible. I have sent him a memo and pics for his eval and will apprise you once I receive word back from him.

The oddity of this is that Bible says fakes were manufactored in 1994. My father passed away in 1983 and his belongs were untouched until this year. More than likely, his items were left in the footlockers much longer than that.

One visual in particular that I noticed as being different from others is that above the Geheime Staatspolizie wording is another stamp of "0". The stamp below the wording is "202". Bible's work states that numbering fo real IDs began at 301 so I find it particulary interesting that this is stamped "202".

Hello KC. I think what Mr. Bible meant was in 1994, there was this excellent fake that came out from Poland - the best fake so far. He didn't mean to say there were no fakes before 1994.

As for the #301, it is, if I am not mistaken, the second lowest number that is known to have survived (The lowest is mid 200's, I think). It doesn't mean there wasn't a #200, or a #1. It just mean that the earlier numbered ID discs were destroyed, lost, or have yet to be discovered. Had yours been real, it would be the lowest number known to collectors and be worth a sustantial amount of money.

                      Wizard,

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I could hold out hope for a chance at this being authentic but I won't hold my breath. I will post Don's comments once I hear back from him.

                      Regards,
                      KC1
