The Tab I posted at the start of this thread was also a vet bring back as a group of 4 runic tabs.. purchased from the vet/vets family by Bob Hritz. He kept a tab for himself and a group of photos of SS men also brought back by the vet, he then sold 3 of the tabs to Martin stiles at Hannahs reich who sold them on his website a few months ago...

Without touching on personalities or dealers I stand by what I said … these 118 tabs are not the one-lookers they used to be. Care has to be taken without becoming defensive.

I really wasn’t trying to be defensive... just simply trying to give a little background info on the tabs provenance so to speak. I honestly believe that the tab I posted at the beginning of this thread is an original period tab..

That's fine … I didn't say YOUR tab was a fake.

I wanted people to understand that there is a series of 118 labelled fakes and that you need an experienced eye cast over all that type of tab. I gave up on embroidered runic tabs ages ago as they hold no interest for me.

Hi Ian,

I know you weren’t saying my tab was fake... I am very glad you mentioned that there is a series of fake runic tabs labelled 118 in circulation. I didn’t know this was the case and I’m sure many others didn’t either.. so it is great info for me and others to know. This is my first tab and always learning, so Thankyou [emoji4]
