    SS-VT schiffen and tunic

Up until when was the M34 overseas cap used?
Could it be that men still wore them up to the end of the war, depending on enlist time and condition of said cap. Or got some from the depot even when the M40 overseas or m43 cap was in use?

And same question about the SS-VT grey tunic. Could it be that it was still worn up to '43/'44 by guys because they liked it, still had one or from left overs in the depot when getting a new tunic?

Maybe it could be that there were guys who wore them, just as there were still numbered SS tabs in use up to late of the war, to show they were the "early" guys?

This is one of those questions that can be answered if you do your own homework.

Im convinced that they used the overseas and tunic up to the end of the war from left stocks or as a status symbol. But i havent seen any m34 overseas on pictures during the allied invasion and up.

And wich homework? The search function on this forum? That dont work for some reason on my mobile. And google gives yes and no at the same time.

I can show you period photos of SS POW's in 1945 wearing M34 Schiffen but that would mean that I've spent days, weeks and months doing my homework.

So now do you understand what I mean?

That answer my question, for wich i thank you.

I do my "homework" as you say, i did the whole online NaRa archives a few months ago to find a particular skull on a particular schiffen, but alas.

But at certain points its impossible for me to check the whole archive again. I have research books on headgear and uniforms, but all stowed away or not giving the answer i need. And google give me a lot of forums where the pictures wont show due to hosted by external file uploaders, same as happend on this forum where the threqds are still there but corrupted file pictures. Or strange sites on page 10 of google that gives 100 pop ups, but no photos.

Ok, I understand where you are coming from.

It is very frustrating when you research a particular subject and all the photos have disappeared.

I will try and find the photos of which I speak but it will probably take some time, I have thousands of them saved on my computer.

              Thank you!

Axis History Forum is the most frustrating to search pictures on. It seems that pictures uploaded directly onto their forum, and not hosted from an external uploader for example photobucket, also tend to vanish...

I thought this was a discussion forum. If everyone did their own homework, then there would be very little discussion. Disgusting arrogance.

Couldn't find the POW photo that I know I've got somewhere but did find these.

I believe these guys are all from SS Division Nord and date from around 1941/42

                          Those are very nice pictures.

Im trying to find pictures of Das Reich members who wear this cap after 42/43.

Yes nice picture contribution but the attidude problem is still not remedied as I see...unfortunately for the forum.

Possible? Yes. Common whatsoever? Hard no.

Those photos Ben posted are 1941 dated photos of Nord, from SA-Kuva. From 42 onwards, the VT caps and blusen become increasingly rarer. I can't recall, off the top of my head, any photos showing VT schiffchen in 1943-44.
