    SS ring?

When I see things like this my brain immediately goes to "fake" and I have no history to this piece other than its been in one collection since the 70's-80's. But the more I look at this It certainly is of excellent quality and appropriate age. Marked inside but tough to make out. Looks like large narrow font D.R.G. (worn DRGM possibly?) and small font "RUNG". I would love to hear knowledgeable comments from those familiar with these.

Interesting! Definitely looks like one in a lower row. Any idea how long they have been around?

It never existed except in the minds of people (significantly post-ww2) who thought for some reason that wearing this would be a good idea.

Agree about people who wear such things! But still confused about SS rings. There are some offered on estand.

Can you post photos of the rings you are wondering about?

Be very careful about the “knurled shank” pattern though- a number of cast fakes of that one exist. But that is the best original with that shank pattern I have ever seen.

Ok, so then there are original SS rings... Aside from Gales being cast, what to look for (excluding TK rings from this discussion of course).

The site you just posted in fact, German daggers.com -on their ring forum is a very good site to begin educating yourself about original german rings.
