I would be very skeptical of this cap. As others have mentioned there is no evidence of factory manufacture of these caps in the Erbsenmuster pattern. While private tailored is possible, where are the examples with provenance? And why the size number stamp if a one off?
Add to that the heavy aging that suggests a contrived patina, not one I would shell out a fortune for.

I believe we had a consensus that the material looked orig. which leaves us with the question war time or post war (most likely) constructed. bottom line, not worth investing in.
