E-stand SS Panzer tunic

I've had another look at the aluminium outer wire bullion on the collar tabs. They seem to be larger in diameter than most originals. Pips on rank tab look NQR (not quite right)

Or do I need glasses..

Good questions, not insulted at all. You just have to know what your looking at. Many SS officer tunics have passed through my hands, some I felt were post war assembled from original parts, some I felt and knew were partly restored, a couple were re-badged stripped Heer tunics probably post war. A collector in Italy sold me a stripped Heer tunic claiming it was SS. But a few of them were very recognizably un- restored original tunics and later sold for the big bucks through me or on dealer sites.


I could look at that Panzer tunic and say it is very nice indeed, but where did it come from? The wide litze bothers me, many of Kai Winklers tunics had this wide litze. There is still material to tailor these "tailor made" tunics. All the labels , pips, bells and whistles can be easily found and used.


Your tunic is very nice but like was stated it is really only worth the sum of it's parts. I hope you can get $10,000 but these days the untouched ones are hardly fetching that. IMO

How do you tell from untouched compared to restored. Your word as a senior collector and not much more. I respect your opinion John, but when time comes to sell your untouched tunics - some well may ask. On the other hand - No expense has been spared to restore my "Der Fuhrer" tunic. Jacquesf will testify to this. So take a gamble. Buy a story, or buy a representative with no bulldust repro parts.

There is another way to tell if something is untouched. Know where you get it from.When you get it out of the Hands from the Person who wear it once back in the day, then no more questions need to be ask, what happens a few times to me. Beside that, what expenses do you have not to spare when you bring a naked Tunic to a good Taylor and tell him put the Insignias on? It is without a question nice done, but as John stated, thats what untouched Tunics go for.

Are you saying Officers didn’t clean there field Uniforms and when they did they left the insignias on ? Did you examine this uniform ? Which still had heavy stains and caked dried clay on it ? I don’t think you know too much about uniforms. Hang in there you’ll learn a thing or two.

In those photos I just see standard width Litze , photos unless close ups and clear are not good indicators , the guy in the bottom has no Litze.

Are you telling me that all the SS field uniforms that have "originally stitched" insignia were never cleaned in 6 years of war?
