The water pattern jackets were real and water damaged
The pink has contrived damage pretty easy to see in person

One of the top textile conservation Labs in the US disagrees with you and I would trust their judgement and experience on damage over yours on this topic.

For once I agree, at least in part, with Owen! That is the damage shown on this smock COULD have been deliberate and fairly recent (last few months or last few years) IMO.

With that acknowledgement I will also again say as a fact that I saw several smocks back in 1981 in Germany, from this hoard, with damage like this one. Anyone self punishing enough to follow the threads on these since 2004 may recall that I have written of these with this kind of damage many, many times. Most of these rotten ones were ( I think) cut up for other like things.....like Owen's helmet covers!

I guess that I could have paid Floch to damage this one and bring it to SOS to vindicate my statements of many years, but for the record I'll state here and now that I did not.

What is always missing in these "discussions" is the why? That is now that we have finally validated aspects long reported but dismissed as now fact like the stamps, the de-faced stamps, the mildew damage and things like two variations of Camo Loop sewing (center stitch and no center stitch), printing errors (as really seen on this one) and pieced part construction with varying thread type (as also seen on this one).......we are left with asking "why pull the big charade with all the elaborate deception, when non of the characteristics listed above were ever used to "sell" these? More than that they were no even understood for the most part back in 1980 and even contributed to the doubt about these expressed by some in the 1980s as to why funny looking Soviet ink stamps would be in original German items? No one could imagine that they could they!

Have you ever tried using "battery acid" to make this aged look? Why not give it a try yourself and see if it does in fact look like this.

He's not going to do anything. it's just more silliness to derail the conversation . One of the foremost textile conservation labs in the country says it's water /mold damage , you can take their expertise to the bank.

                Don,
You defend these fake jackets and their stamps not you are defending the rot on them.
                Its a complete joke.

You came up with the battery acid nonsense , it's water damage and mold. BTW they are not fake.

                        Good.

                        We are at another crossroads.

I seen the 4 fake pinks at the show while you sat home.......
I seen the damaged one as well as the fakers other crap while you sat at home.

You believe in fake being real.

I am done with this little banter.

Hopefully - then we'll be able to have an adult discussion.
I think if someone who's actual area of expertise and experience has made comment on the topic of discussion, it does indeed overshadow any layman's opinion.

                              Let me get this straight....

                              http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=951360

Per the above thread Floch paid $10 per smock at a time when no repros existed and at a time when movie props were far less elaborate in construction...
                              Let that sink in...
So some still think these smocks are fakes from the 1980's? just because they differ from Reich produced ones? That is the only weak argument that is left. Ost industrie produced most of its gear outside of the Reich as the SS expanded and the needs increased. Lodz Poland made is the answer...ended up in a Polish studio (in operation 1946-1952) and ended up in a Belarus Studio (Minsk) property stamped 1947...which Floch did not even realize...wasn't looking for stamps that do NOT add value...

Did they say when? 2 years ago or 50 years ago?

I have seen a lot of faked and orginal garments with this.

                                It looks artifcially aged.

(I dont care if the pinkies are orginal or not, im just mentioning the aging)
