Question - I have an early Allgemeine SS visor cap similar to this, but it's the smooth badge wool (non-ribbed), and it has typical oil-cloth crown and rust-colored lining..
1. Is the satin-crown version like this one earlier or later than the oilcloth...or was it private purchase? I don't remember ever seeing an enlisted cap with satin, but I could be wrong.

I'm no cap expert but if it were 'private purchase' how would it have an RZM label ? It looks to be a higher quality than standard contract issue cap.

This is not a private purchased cap. This cap was made by a legit cap maker with RZM contract number.

But the cap is made in the more expensive way called "Sonderklasse" with a nicer lining then the normal caps (RobertH wrote it in the correct way earlier in the thread)
