        Cuff Title

I believe this is an original example.

Photographs of hand embroidered bands can sometime be deceptive but I'm afraid that on the basis of those shown and the quality of embroidery illustrated, I would pass.

            Just my opinion.

If that is a 5 strand cuff band , its no good. Dont like the sloppy embroidery anyway. Back in those days only the best of the best were produced and frankly I believe that would not make the quality standard expected by Oberbayern. The price these go for anymore means seek one your 100% certain is original, otherwise you've sunk money into something that will be questioned & more difficult to sell when that time comes.

Thanks Michael. I am thinking the same at this stage.

Not a slam dunk, but without airtight provenance, I'd pass.

Photographs are only fair, so it's hard to really see details. From the reverse shot, it looks to me to be a 7 strand band of acceptable weave pattern. I think white backing was used sometimes, but it's less common than black.

The quality of the embroidery just isn't up to snuff, IMHO. If I understand correctly, "Oberbayern" was used until September, 1938, making this a relatively early band which should have very high quality embroidery. Hand embroidered SS Cuff Titles are rarely perfect, but this one is a little too far off for my comfort.

                              thank you Barry
i did buy it and returned
as i collect cuffs and got lot of them i did very close vetting on this one
                              also was vetted on warrelics
its a nice cuff but most likely not original
