As mentioned before, that flag is big enough that it could be damaged by its own weight if it is hung. Natural textiles of this age are often not in good enough condition to be used for their original purpose. If this flag has been stored in a hot location such as an attic at any time over the last 60 years it could be very brittle and prone to tearing. Your flag is very nice, please don't try to hang it and instead look into having it framed.
