Any history from the owner of the home (attic) as to who owned it. Maybe you can do a search of title on the house, would be great to put the jacket to a name. Congrats!

Superb tunic, really megarare. The ss cut lining worth nothing when we have a sure SS m36 or m40, just a little detail about contractor. Ss were furnished also by ss contractors which produced 3 step linings

That white stuff in the moth hole, if its not fabric clean it out it may be egg residue. Excellent rare early SS tunic.

M42 as reception markings dates ? A typical Army reception stamping with the M for München ...

                              Kameraden, thanks for your replies!
Now some little detail about the jacket and its owner.

The estate was found in a little village near Greifenburg in Austria, however there are no photos from a house walkaround or something. I got in contact with somebody who was a friend of the soldiers family. He told me about the SS stuff and so the hunt began. There is no big story since I didn't knew the soldiers relatives personally. The only details I know is that they jalso have relatives in the US, and that is were all the private stuff like personal documents and photos etc. went to. The Uniform items and a large Hausfahne were sold to some interested collectors, luckily I got the jacket which was my main target.
Me was told, that the soldier was still wearing this stuff when he was hiding in the alpine mountains from the Allies. As he didn't want to get identified as an SS Soldier he took off the insignia, so what you see is rebadged jacket!
Yes, the insignia is resewn but I gave my best to do it as accurate as possible.

On the other hand the quality RZM insignia is all matching and is matching the condition of the tunic just perfectly. It was carefully sewn using wartime sewing thread which I've collected over the years. In this case its an accurate restoration job and its not random made. As evidence, I even left the sewing thread remnants of its original machine sewn SS tabs and tresse, which were still present when the tunic was found. Since it is IMO part of the tunics history I left it in place, so one can see it is a true SS Unterführer jacket and not just a "phantasy" restoration job. Due to clear traces of the former insignia it was quite easy to place the insignia at the exact right spots. As mentioned before, there are also remnants of an awards ribbon worn in the button hole + I also found some tiny black sewing thread in the cufftitle area, not really obvious, so I guess it must have been hand-sewn.

Besides the resewn insignia the jacket is in condition as found, it was never in collectors hands before. I only cleaned out the moth bites with a soft brush and left it in the fridge for 3 weeks to make sure there is no insect alive.

Not easy to read but IMO the producer is Georg Possner.
