It's an original sleeve eagle ... the original colour however is debatable.

Dyed original... What a pity... A nice original uniform removed eagle partly destroyed...

                Guys

I am the owner of this eagle and can tell you that I have examined it minutely- it is not dyed. Carsten Baldes was also of the opinion it is the original colour and offered it for sale at a much higher price.

This came together with a green eagle from a forum member here who removed them from a camo cut off and is also of the opinion that this is not a dyed eagle. Helmut Weitze currently has it's green twin for sale which I sold to him.

Some of these must have been produced by the same manufacturer who made the brown and green cap insignia, the shades are as far as I can tell identical.

Come on man, dont get fooled by wishful thinking. I dont mean to offend you, and I hope you understands that - but what seems to be to good to be true is usually that - not true. I can see the brownish hue to the black base weave.
Its common trick and it has happened many times, dye an original viola you have a camo. Several big online dealers have pushed these in the past.

There are lighter brown and lighter green sleeve eagles out there but they all remain contentious in my opinion, for what it's worth.

Felix, I know I can't convince you, that's fine- all I can say is I have the item in hand- there is no trace of dye on the backing- it is pure black. It is untampered with in my opinion.

Hi Felix, thanks for your comment. I understand that we are all here in the forum to do our best to effectively assess an item and it s logical that in some cases such as this one different opinions might arise. Having said that, if I may ask, have carefully looked at this eagle s construction and cannot see any brownish hue to the black weave, maybe it would be a good idea if Patrick could kindly post a very nice close up of the eagle s embroidery to get a closer look

Hi Ian, sorry, english is not my native speaking language, just to make sure I fully understand what you are saying, when you say that there are contentious lighter brown and green eagles out there, do you imply that the one being posted on this thread is also contentious?

Patrick, its true, you cant convince me. Its not camo cap eagles and skulls we talk about. They are known to exist in brown and green. Sleeve eagles are not known to exist in camo versions. Im not going try to convince you either. I simply tell my opinion based on my knowledge and knowledge in general. Burden of prof...

Stay safe - and end up with a nice original collection. Take chances - and that might result in another outcome...

If you like the eagle - fine. I dont and would not purchase as original camo version.

Youre welcome man! I simply try to help from getting burned.

Question 1: Are sleeve eagles known to exist in brown or green camo versions according to references?

Question 2: Where are the others?

                              Cheers
