I was recently offered this sword knot and the gentleman said it is SS. Is it possible he is correct?

I bought mine in 1993 for $12.50, still in the original cellophane. Then it was an unknown, but period, knot. They were possibly TENO or whatever, but certainly not SS. They didn't become SS until about 10 to 20 years later.
Based partly on the packaging, I believe they are either original, or Very old reproductions / fantasy pieces.
